Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport: All you need to know about world’s largest airport

Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has approved designs for the new passenger terminal at Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport. It will be the world's largest airport when fully operational.

The new terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport is expected to surpass the size of the current Dubai International Airport by five times.

Designed to handle a staggering 260 million passengers annually, the new terminal promises to accommodate a significant increase in air traffic.

Over the next decade, Dubai International Airport's operations will gradually transition to Al Maktoum International Airport.

With plans for five parallel runways and space for 400 terminal or aircraft gates, the new airport aims to optimize efficiency and convenience for travelers.

By integrating state-of-the-art aviation technologies, the airport aims to attract top global companies in the logistics and air transport sectors.

The ambitious project will spur the development of an entire city around the airport in Dubai South, catering to the housing needs of approximately one million people.

Upon completion, Al Maktoum International Airport will become the primary hub for flagship carrier Emirates, its low-cost counterpart Flydubai, and all other airline partners facilitating global connectivity through Dubai. This was affirmed by Emirates chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum.
